Investing in Nonprofit Leaders and Leadership Programs

Strong nonprofit leaders and organizations play a critical role in creating positive and lasting change in our region. LeaderBridge uses a three-pronged strategy based on equity, access, and impact. We partner with leadership program providers to integrate equity and inclusion practices. We increase outreach and connect nonprofit leaders of color and of diverse backgrounds to professional development opportunities. We work with programs and leaders to develop an engaged network that supports and responds to the needs of nonprofit leaders.

Leaders

LeaderBridge connects and provides support for nonprofit leaders of color and of diverse backgrounds to participate in leadership development programs in the Greater Washington region. Through these programs, leaders learn about nonprofit management, strategic and financial planning, communications, public speaking, presentation skills, and more, from experienced faculty and gain skills and tools to support their leadership.

LeaderBridge serves rising and established leaders from locally serving nonprofits. Partial scholarships are available for all programs. To apply, interested leaders should go directly to the leadership program provider websites for information on program details, eligibility requirements, and application deadlines.

LeaderBridge works with leadership program providers in the Greater Washington Region that offer leadership development opportunities to local nonprofit professionals, ranging from emerging leaders to executives. The Crimsonbridge Foundation partners with these organizations to help improve outreach and marketing to applicants from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Current community partners include: Georgetown University’s Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership (CPNL) Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate, Leadership Greater Washington’s Rising Leaders program, and Leadership Montgomery’s Emerging Leaders program. While these programs differ in length, format, and focus, they have one thing in common: all programs are dedicated to strengthening the leadership and management capacity of the region’s nonprofit professionals and nurturing the skills they need to excel long-term.

Alumni have the chance to connect and navigate challenges with peer leaders and remain a part of the LeaderBridge network after completing their program. The network provides members a reservoir of peer leaders who can act as a resource and sounding board to discuss challenges, opportunities, and issues they face as leaders.

"If we are to support significant representation of women in public office, it will take an entire engaged and resourced ecosystem to build the strong infrastructure and national movement that underpins a robust, diverse leadership pipeline. With only 1.6% of all philanthropist resources going towards causes that support women and girls expressly, it can sometimes feel like an uphill battle. But with champions and investors [like the Crimsonbridge Foundation] in our corner, we can unlock the true power and influence of every woman’s voice, including our own."
